Historian Ramchandra Guha speaks on "Patriotism vs Jingoism" - Saket Bihari Sharma

A reverred historian Ramchandra Guha speaks on "Patriotism vs Jingoism" which clearly underlines the ideological strength of secular gang operational in India.

- Guha against Hindu nationalism;

- Guha against Hindi imperialism;

- He elaborates Patriotism vs jingoism;

- Patriotism versus aggressive nationalism;

- Explains how Indian Patriotism is different from European or Pakistani nationalism;

- Lays out Mahatma Gandhi's nationalism which stands on four pillars: Non violence, Hindu Muslim harmony, abolition of untouchability and economic self reliance;

- Spells Hindu Nationalism in terms of being a Hindu, being a Hindi speaker and hating Pakistan;

- Defines jingoism as दंगा & झण्डा politics animated by hatred and revenge, demonising all critics as देशद्रोही, thuggery, intimidiation and use of power to crush dissents;

- Speaks on the ideological hypocrisy of left which has been popular among intellectual, artists and others, questions non indianisation of the left as their banners still have four prominent faces in the form of dictators i.e. Lenin and Stalin and two German thinkers in the form of Karl Marx and Angels with no Indian faces on the banners;

- He pointed out that he suggested his friends in the left to put Bhagat Singh and Narayan Guru as ideological figures of left wing ideology in India but no one heeded, he pointed out one weakness of the naxal uprising in which they declared China's chairman as their own Chairman. This was also an example of anti Patriotism;

- Explains out the failure of Congress Party, entrapped with corruption and three prominent ideological betrayals, the first betrayal being declaring emergency by Indira Gandhi, secondly naming Sanjay Gandhi as successor by Indira Gandhi (dynasty politics in Congress was not enrooted by Nehru or Lal Bahadur Shastri), questions Rajiv Gandhi's role in Shah Bano case and in opening the locks of disputed Ayodhya temple;

- He said that Kerala did a mistake by electing Rahul Gandhi to the parliament as he is a fifth generation dynast and young generation is not ready to accept entitlements, he says the fact Nehru is still being blamed is because Congress is reduced to a family entity;

- Says, Islamic fundamentalism is also strengthening hindutva nationalism;

- Says hindutva is not indigenous because of two major reasons, one is the Khaki cult of fascist powers which prevailed in the 19th century is found embedded in them which shows the ideological influence of Fascism, also he talks about the medieval Islam of 12th, 13th and 14th century in which subjects were divided into first class, second class and third class citizens. People going to Mosque daily were the first class Muslims whereas the second class were the denient muslims and Christians/ Jews where the third class citizens. The second and third class citizens could not serve at prominent positions. The same fashion of rule is being tried to be implemented in India;

- Says that federalism can still save the country from fascism and told that during emergency, states other than Tamil Nadu were under Congress regime whereas in today's scenario more than 50% of India is out of the saffron rule;

- Pointed out that Golwarkar (founder of RSS) equally hated christians and muslims.
